Vegetarians love sweet things too!

Sadly choosing a dessert isn't always as straightforward as it should be. Hidden animal ingredients crop up in annoying places.

~Make sure your cheese cake is made using only vegetarian cheese.

~Avoid desserts set with jelly, which might contain gelatine, a product of the slaughterhouse. Agar agar (E406) is a good replacement for gelatine and can be used in recipes. Powdered agar can be substituted for the same quantity of powdered gelatine.

~And remember eggs should be free-range or that tempting looking gateau will be off limits too.
