| Remember
too that Greek food is good for you - lots of fresh vegetables, salads,
pulses, nuts,
pasta and, if you're not vegan, delicious feta cheese, greek yoghurt
and local wild flower honey. Not forgetting, of course, lashings of fresh
olive oil.
Traditionally, Greek people ate a largely vegetarian diet, although
they would never have called themselves vegetarian. Meat was only eaten
occasionally on festivals or when a special guest arrived. If it was
used in a normal meal it would have been part of a mixed casserole
with beans and vegetables.
Try these recipes for yourself and conjure up again the magic of
sun-drenched, idyllic Greece - and the best of holiday food.
