Local Contacts for The Vegetarian Society
The Vegetarian Society
has a two-tier system of local representatives: Affiliated Groups and
Information Centres. Information Centres marked with a * are trying
to grow into groups, and those marked ** are actually small groups,
so please contact them if you are interested in joining. Business Display
Info Centres have our literature and information available for their
customers and visitors but do not usually put on events
Please remember
that all groups and information centres are run by volunteers and are
entirely self-funded. If you contact any, please include a stamp for
return postage.

May
21: National Vegetarian Week. Ten mile open cycle time trial hosted
by VCAC, Racers start from 7.00pm, cost £7.00,
The event is an open event for cyclists whether vegetarian or not.
The VCAC, which has a long and distinguished
history in cycling, is hosting and organising the event, so we will
of course be taking the chance to plug the vegetarian message. We
will be looking for helpers between 6.00 and 9.00 to marshal the
course. More information from Steve Coote, 07930 235215, email: maximillvcac@fsmail.net

Veggie Snow Club (Affiliated Group)
Sophie Fenwick-Paul.
Tel: 0118 9464858 web: www.veggiesnow.org
• This
is an informal worldwide Veggie Snow Club, to link vegan and vegetarian
skiers and snowboarders together. We also have special vegan/veggie
snow trips. All ages and abilities are welcome, including singles,
couples and families, from novice to expert skiers. The aim of the
website is to pool information about veggie-friendly places to stay
and eat on the slopes, and to arrange exclusively veggie and vegan
chalet stays. We have organised exclusively vegetarian & vegan
catered chalet trips in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 and are heavily
booked for 2008, though check with us whether we've got any extra
places, and put your name down for notification about 2009 and beyond.
We raise large sums of money for veggie and eco causes by giving
away the group leader discounts rather than keeping them for ourselves.
We work with ski holiday companies and provide useful online and
email advice for them to help cater well for vegetarians and vegans.
