Becoming a Youth Contact

General information

To be a Youth Contact:

you must live in the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland. We also include the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands)

be aged between 12 and 25 years old.

be a member of The Vegetarian Society (or "junior member" if under 16, or included on a family membership with your parents).

You can either work alone, with a few friends or as a representative of a youth group or similar organisation.

We'll give you support in the following ways:

a regular newsletter called Network News that keeps you up-to-date with all our latest projects and campaigns.

email discussion lists (a moderated one to ensure safety for under-16s)

you will be able to order reasonable quantities of leaflets and posters free of charge (although a contribution towards postage is always very welcome!).

Youth Contacts can do things like:

start a Young Vegetarians Group at school or a vegetarian club at college

campaign for better veggie choices in your school or college canteen

ask your teacher to organise a talk or video about vegetarianism for your class

take leaflets and posters out to local libraries, youth clubs etc

produce a newsletter for other vegetarians at school or college

produce your own veggie website

As we don't want to lose our active campaigners when they reach their 20s, Youth Contacts over 18 will have the option of converting to "Information centre" or "Affiliated Group" status if they wish.

If you are interested in promoting vegetarianism as a Youth Contact, please complete the form below. If you have any queries about being a Youth Contact, please get in touch with Bronwen Humphreys: bron@vegsoc.org

Want to be a Youth Contact? Then fill in the form

If you are over 16 and at college or university, you have the option of being a student contact instead, click here for details.
