National Vegetarian Week 1999 takes place between 14th - 20th June and this year The Vegetarian Society is urging the meat-eaters of the UK to Break-out of their old way of eating and discover vegetarian food. The Society is convinced that, after eating delicious vegetarian food for a week, nobody would be interested in returning to a diet of meat and two veg. The week aims to encourage as many people as possible to enjoy vegetarian food from June 14-20th and to prove that if you are looking for a diet that is healthy, nutritious, kind to animals, the planet and tastes great - vegetarianism is the only option! "People can often get locked into one way of thinking about food. National Vegetarian Week is the best time to Break-out, think differently and discover vegetarian cuisine. We are confident that more people than ever before will Break-out of eating meat between 14th - 20th June. If you're a butcher, you might as well book your holiday for the middle of June!" said Chris Dessent, Head of Public Affairs for The Vegetarian Society. National Vegetarian Week culminates in Vegfest '99 on June 19th. The one-day, Vegetarian Food and Lifestyle Festival, is held at The Castlefield Events Arena, Liverpool Road, Manchester (opposite the Museum of Science and Industry).
