The Vegetarian Society's National Vegetarian Week campaign has been given a boost following words of encouragement from the Society's Patron Paul McCartney. The week aims to encourage as many people to go veggie for the week as possible and is now established as the most important event in the vegetarian calendar. This year, the Society is also delighted to announce that the week is being sponsored by the Linda McCartney food brand. The Society welcomes the support of a company so committed to producing quality food and extending choice to millions of existing and future vegetarians. Paul McCartney said "It's magnificent that National Vegetarian Week is now in its 7th year. There was a time when you couldn't imagine anything like this happening. Since it began more and more people have made every week vegetarian week and I hope more people will join us and realise the bonus of cooking with kindness." Paul and Linda McCartney, long-term supporters of the Society's work, became Patrons of The Vegetarian Society in 1995. National Vegetarian Week 1998 was held in tribute to the late Linda McCartney. "It is fitting that the Linda McCartney food brand should be sponsoring a week dedicated to celebrating great food. We know, that the best way of switching people on to vegetarianism is to appeal to their stomachs and with the help of the Linda McCartney brand, this will be easier than ever" said Chris Dessent, Head of Public Affairs, for The Vegetarian Society. The Vegetarian Society is offering a free 'Break-out Veggie Pack' complete with delicious recipes, top tips and info, to anyone interesting in going Vegetarian for National Vegetarian Week. Packs are available free from the Society, on request.
