Adopt a caterer for National Vegetarian Week 2001!
The Vegetarian Society is so lucky to have such wonderful and committed members... yes, you guessed it, I'm after something!

I wondered how you'd feel about adopting your worst local caterer and encouraging them to 'refresh' their menu! The idea is that if they improve their standards then all other caterers will be encouraged to raise quality and choice too. You don¹t have to do it all yourself - we have many Vegetarian Society approved manufacturers willing to help caterers.

Major International have sample packs of their approved concentrated vegetable stocks and a new vegetarian recipe leaflet they are willing to send out to caterers. Telephone 01933 304277 for more details.

Findlay foods are happy to send out a sample jar of their vegetarian caviar to bona fide restaurants who may wish to put Cavi*art on the menu. Telephone 0161 833 3303 for information.

Twineham grange are dying to prove that their Italian style, hard vegetarian cheese lives up to everything you¹d expect of Parmesan and more. They want to help caterers, manufacturers and even retailers get the taste for the product. Telephone 01444 881394 for more details.

Beers and wines - we have manufacturers and distributors of beers and wines, made without any slaughterhouse byproducts. Even meateaters become concerned when you tell them their weekend tipple is made from the extract of pigs, cows and tropical fish!

Hendersons relish, vegetarian Worcester sauce, are looking to help caterers. Phone 0114 272 5909 for more details.

Xantham gum -I also know a manufacturer who is keen to help rid us of the curse of gelatine. They can mix a blend of gelling agents or thickeners to suit the specific purpose and offer expert help and advice on the subject.
