PUT ON YOUR OWN EVENT Any food related event is particularly appropriate for National Vegetarian Week, and don't get too serious! Remember the Week is supposed to be a celebration of vegetarian living so if you are part of a group, why not treat yourselves to a party, a meal out, a barbecue, a picnic or some similar fun event? If you are planning a meal out, contact the restaurant in advance, tell them it's your Veg Week event – it's just possible they might be interested in taking it further, perhaps by organising a "Refresh the Menu" theme night or creating a special vegetarian dish.If you have enough help and suitable premises, consider organising a public event such as a cookery demonstration, a talk with a buffet, a veggie pot-luck supper (get people to send the recipe they are cooking in advance so you can photocopy them to hand out) or a barbecue. If you want to try something really ambitious, why not put on a local "Vegfest" with food, entertainment and information stands. You can offer stalls to local branches of organisations like Animal Aid, Friends of the Earth, local organic gardeners, health food shops or veggie businesses.
