EASY THINGS TO DO IF YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN If you are running an information centre (or even a group) all by yourself, you may feel there’s not much you can do towards ensuring the success of National Vegetarian Week. It can be especially daunting if you live in a rural area. Don’t forget that every little helps. No matter how tiny your contribution may feel, it all adds to the overall success so don’t feel intimidated. If your group is based in an area where the members are spread out or where transport is difficult so that you can't get together easily for meetings and big events, you could also ask people to do a few of these things on their own. That way, your group is still making a contribution towards Veg Week. Write at least one letter – to your local paper, parish magazine, school magazine – anywhere that might be interested. Make some stickers if you have a computer, hand them out to your members to put on envelopes, parcels, lunch boxes, folders etc Take a few fliers down to your local library and health food shop. Talk to your friends about National Vegetarian Week, carry a few of the NVW fliers and recipe booklets around in case any express an interest in obtaining more information. Put a poster up in your front window Put a poster up at work/school/college/church Invite a non-vegetarian or two round to your home for a meal. Take some veggie food into work to share with your colleagues. Talk to the manager of a shop you use regularly and ask him/her to do something for the Week. Ask your local café/restaurant to include a veggie special on the menu for the Week. |
