| Ashton under Lyne to Manchester | Loving
the Land, Walk with Laurence Main May 25: 2pm ‘Loving the Land’, National Vegetarian Week Canal Walk and Talk with Laurence Main.Laurence Main - lecturer, vegan, Arthurian and Earth Mysteries Researcher, is walking the 2,700 mile length of Britain! Join him during National Vegetarian Week for the 6 mile stretch along the canal from Ashton under Lyne to Manchester, the birthplace of the modern vegetarian movement. Meet 2 pm at Guide Bridge station, Guide Lane, (Ashton under Lyne / Audenshaw border), arrive in Manchester at Deansgate Station then head to The Square Albert for drinks. The walk will be followed by a free talk about Laurence’s epic journey and his relationship with the land. 6.30 pm Friends Meeting House, Mount Street, Manchester City Centre (opposite the Central Library). The walk and talk are both free |

| The People's History Museum Left bank, Bridge Street, Manchester May 22: 11am-1pm, Family-friendly fun and veggie adventures, launching National Vegetarian Week in conjunction with the museum’s current exhibition, FROM BUTTIES TO BHAJIS – Working people’s Food in Great Britain. Visitors to Saturday’s event will be able to try their hand at two popular veggie food challenges – juggling five portions of fruit and veg (literally) and making something interesting out of dried pulses (an artwork in this case)! Veggie food-themed craft activities, a stilt walker, free jam butties and onion bhajis will also be on hand throughout the morning. Everyone welcome - entry to the museum galleries is £1 for adults, free for children and concessions. |
