Hoping to promote NVW in the five primary schools and two sixth form colleges we cater for. In the primary schools there will be "guess the veg" and "try something new today" and in the sixth form colleges, we'll be promoting vegetarian choices on the menu and giving information about healthy eating.

Examples include - baked crisp tart of seasonal vegetables with tian of spicy cous cous, griddled asparagus, plum tomato and basil dressing; Warm goats cheese & filo, with walnuts, grapes and creme fraiche; courgette wrapped smoked haloumi with pepper coulis and basil oil served on rocket salad with a roasred pepper coulis. Average price for five spectacular courses is £35.

We will be trying to encourage people who are not already vegetarian to take part in the Week by providing more choices of vegetarian goods and fewer meat options, to encourage them to try the veg dishes - which include pasta/quiches/bakes/wraps/nut roasts/stuffed bell peppers/pizza etc

The University of Reading will be promoting additional vegetarian menu items at all its catering outlets on all three campuses to help raise awareness and general appreciation of great veggie food and produce.

In our Reception (Foundation Stage) classrooms, we will be celebrating National Vegetarian Week by offering children the chance to sample many exciting vegetarian products. We will be discussing veggie food and the benefits of a vegetarian diet as well as carrying out fun tasks associated with our celebration of National Vegetarian week, all week long. We will also be having a staff 'Veggie Day' where a varied and delicious vegetarian lunch will be provided to all members of the teaching staff. This will allow those who follow a heavily meat-based
diet to sample the wonders of vegetarian cookery and will hopefully serve
to encourage people to include more veggie food in their daily lifestyles

This year we are going to introduce the "go veggie for a week" challenge, handing out loyalty cards to be stamped every time a customer chooses the vegetarian option, which will earn free products at the end of the week. At the same time they will also be entered into a draw for a cookery pack with a vegetarian cook book.There will be an increase in veggie options with 3 days of only vegetaian & vegan main meals avaiable, all soup to be vegetarian for the week and added veggie options in our new deli bar.
