North East Essex Veggies hold 2 stalls to celebrate NVW
We had two outdoor stalls for National Vegetarian Week - yes, we braved the weather (made of strong stuff us Essex lot)

On Sunday 27th May we had a stall at The Redbridge Green Fair, where we gave out samples of veggie foods, kindly donated by Redwood Wholefoods Ltd, Plamil and Munchy Seeds.

Then as if one day of getting soaked wasn't enough we followed this on the Bank Holiday Monday by another stall at our local Wivenhoe May Festival.

Both events were well attended, despite the weather, and the free sausages and chocolate were particularly well received. Lots of people were saying they were vegetarians and lots of meat eaters pleasantly surprised at how tasty the sausages were - and also that vegan chocolate is as nice, if not better, than the usual kind.

Wellbeing Info Centre - vegan buffet filmed for BBC 2

BBC 2 filmed a vegan buffet on monday 21st may.

We were all so busy didn't get pictures of the food, but everyone, including the carnivores, thought it was wonderful, and although the evening should have finished by 8.30, they were all eating and chatting till gone 11.

The program goes out in the autumn. Will let you know details as soon as i get them. (how to relax and meditate - and naturally included relaxing the intestines....)

Beanies and redwood company sent us lots of goodies which were appreciated.

Milton Keynes Vegetarians & Vegans & Animal Rights

On the May Day Bank Holiday we had our annual stall at the Leight Buzzard Fayre in the High Street. We received the NVW posters in time for this event and made use of the large amount of market stall space. Our main theme was the environment including the devastation to the oceans.

Attached are some photos from 15 May where MKVEGAR was present at the Community Desk, theCentreMK, Milton Keynes. The main supply of literature arrived after I had left that morning but we still had copies of the previous NVW recipe booklets. With plenty of space available we had on display a wide range of VegSoc's information sheets that proved useful. The morning was slow but it picked up in the afternoon with most of the recipe booklets and magazines taken by the end of day. As normal we were giving publicity for the local Veggie World Restaurant in Bletchley and distributing a voucher for their half-price offer on the Tues & Wed of NVW. The topical subject of Mar's retrograde step was raised time and again. Overall it was a useful day.

Monday, 21 May, we were out leafleting houses in Bletchley for two hours, using up postcards and literature from previous years and publicising Veggie World and their offer.

Tuesday, 22 May, MKVEGAR was outside the Food Centre and in particular near Waitrose with a stall for the afternoon where there is a good location for passing shoppers. There was a fair amount of interest and we managed to distribute all recipe booklets taken and generally it was a good day.

Wednesday, 23 May, we were in Bletchley Centre during the afternoon with a stall near the old Co-op entrance and the Brunel Centre. Despite the quiet shopping day there was a good response helped by the posters and other signs. The supply of recipe booklets again proved popular as ever.
