Ideas For Schools
The Vegetarian Society’s National
Vegetarian Week (NVW) is a terrific time to explore the topic of vegetarianism
in
the classroom
and in the school cafeteria. Nutrition for young people, healthy eating,
and respect for people’s differences are all hot topics, and the
subject of vegetarianism offers opportunities for exploration in all
of these areas!
Let us help you celebrate National Vegetarian Week by ordering one of our
NVW Education Packs. Each pack contains Quick Lesson Ideas, a special edition
NVW poster, stickers, our popular Balance of Good Health poster, and our
recipe booklet Vegetarian Catering for Schools and Colleges. Order your
NVW Education Pack, plus additional posters and stickers by clicking here.
So how can you celebrate National Vegetarian Week in your school or classroom?
• Display National Vegetarian Week posters throughout the school and distribute
NVW stickers to students.
• Have an All-Vegetarian Day in your school canteen.
• Announce or post an interesting vegetarian fact (provided with our Quick
Lesson Ideas) each day.
•
Ask students and teachers to “Take the Veggie Challenge” and
go veggie for a day – or the whole week!
•
Choose a lesson – or two! – from our Quick Lesson Ideas for
use in your classroom.
• Have a National Vegetarian Week display board in the library.
• Invite a vegetarian teacher or student to speak about why they chose
to be vegetarian
