Dressed to impress! Year 9 students at Channing School, Highgate London were responsible for designing and creating these superb dresses that were inspired by fruit and vegetables in the run up to National Vegetarian Week 2008.

"Hello from Fairburn Lodge, Activity and Conference Centre.

During Vegetarian Week this year, we produced some special options on the menus for the school groups who were resident with us at the time.

We had your leaflets on display and a poster in the reception area. Lots of sticker badges were given out at mealtimes.

Thought you would like to see the menus."

From Iris Perrin, Administrator.

"Hi, I thought you might like to see the display I did at the school where I work.

The pupils liked it a lot.

The school is The McAuley Catholic high school in Cantley, Doncaster, South Yorkshire."

From Mrs Diane Pierrepont

"We are delighted to have been involved in Vegetarian Week. The response and feedback we have had from customers has been great.

It is important that people are aware that vegetables can be cooked in all sorts of different and interesting ways and that there is more to vegetables than cabbage and carrots!!

During Vegetarian Week customers ordered more vegetarian side orders than normally and they said they enjoyed trying the dishes"

From Carmen, Blue India Restaurant, Haywards Heath.

"We had a very successful vegetarian pizza sale on Tuesday 20th May. It was run by a group of 16, Year 10 NCFE Nutririton and Health girls. They really enjoyed the practical side of the event, making 10 pizza's for sale at break time.

Within 10 minutes, 80 slices of pizza had been sold!

A very successful event, enjoyed by all who took part from Greenwood Dale School in Sneinton, Nottingham."

From Georgina Marshment

"For Veg Week we had a competition running via veggie places website : Jackie Sweryda in London won a meal for two!

We also launched our new spring summer menu."

From Olivia Reid, Terre à Terre.

"I feel I must tell you about Bengal Dynasty, Hall Lane, Wincham.

You are made to feel welcome, the staff are warn and friendly, the vegetarian menu is extensive and for NVW they put on an extra menu. They also had leaflets on the tables and advertised in the local paper."

From Carol, VegSoc member.

"NVW was a big success at Sibila's this year. For the first two years we held a World Tour of dishes from around the globe. Last year we held themed evenings of Spice, Aphrodisiac etc.

So this year we decided to go on a 'Culinary Cruise' of the Mediterranean. Sibila's roots are in the Mediterranean so it was natural that we served up unusual dishes from that area.

We had a set menu of 2 courses with an optional extra third dessert course. We ran the menu only in the evenings from Tuesday to Saturday and finishing off with a Sunday lunchtime offering as well. The Mezzes proved very popular as people could have small helpings of a lot of little dishes as tasters. Amongst the mains, the more popular dishes were the Tunisian 'Vegetable tagine with pumpkin couscous served with prune and onion confit' and the Italian 'Lettuce and asparagus pie served with pickled courgettes'.

Almost everybody enjoyed themselves thereby proving yet again that vegetarian fare can be innovative, delicious, nutritious and also you do not have to be a vegetarian to enjoy a good vegetarian meal. "
