| "We wanted to let you know about the work we did to
celebrate National Vegetarian Week 2008 at Kirk O'Shotts Primary School
in Salsburgh. Our Primary 6 and 7 pupils did a literacy project using Vegetarianism
as their theme including:
* Persuasive Posters Many pupils decided to go veggie for the week and we rewarded any pupils choosing a veggie option in the school canteen with a sticker. We all enjoyed learning about how being vegetarian is a healthy and eco friendly option, as we are and Eco and Health Promoting School. Thanks for giving us an interesting topic to learn about! The resources we ordered for vegetarian week were great." From Heather Slimmon, Principal Teacher.

"Just some of the photo's from our easy Veggie Nosh Day, which went really well. The sun shone all day and we had over 50 visitors, which to a private event was just right. We had such a wonderful choice of food from savoury hot meals and soup, bread rolls with pate's, cheatin meats and vegan cheese followed by dairy free ice cream and vegan truffles and sweets. We had a large choice of frozen meals, the pictures of which were stuck on the freezer and the visitors chose what they wanted to eat and we then cooked the meal for them. Everyone who came left with a goodie bag full of recipes and nutritional information along with leaflets that the food companies had sent plus samples of lush soap, vegetarian week seeds, coconut oil etc At the end of the event no food was left on peoples plates (unfortunately for Hamish our Vegetarian dog!) so all must have enjoyed the food." "I wanted to let you know that once again Grey Fell Academy, a private day nursery in West Yorkshire, went Vegetarian for a whole week in support of National Vegetarian week. The toddlers and pre-school children had a vegetarian menu for the whole week and enjoyed sampling different fruit during their snack times. The nursery themed the whole week around healthy living and they did lots of outdoor activities and exercise as well as talking about the food they ate and enjoyed. They also displayed a poster for NVW on their notice board as well as having displays of fresh fruit and veg in the classrooms." From Cathy Milner. |

"We kicked off with a picnic at beautiful Balmerino which was a lot of fun! Next celebration was a Dainty Nibbles Night at Taste Fresh Deli, Dundee where we invited the public to come along and chat, graze, browse and plant seeds - later! We sampled products from Frys including burgers, hot dogs, sausage rolls, sausages and polony. We had veggie info and recipes available and NVW seeds to give away also Cauldron's money off vouchers. The following night we had Gayl's Informal Thing which was a chilled out evening of tea/coffee and veggy wholesome cakes plus a glass of wine and lots of chat. It was a good week in which we met new people, old friends and sampled different veggy food products and whilst our numbers are small our enthusiasm is large!" From Viv, Tay Veggies. |

"What a great day we all had at our barbecue by the river at Kilkerran in South Ayrshire. As on all previous occasions the sun shone, the food was delicious and the company was a great mix of all ages." From Sylvia, Clyde Coast Info Centre.

"Just thought I'd drop you a line to update you on the DELIA SCHMELIA NVW event I held last night at 8th Day Cafe. It went great, a real success. We got a lot of it on film. Once its uploaded onto Youtube, I'll send you the link, as I'd love you to see it. It was a really fun night! Thanks so much for the flyers, they really made a difference to the gig and a lot of people went away with information." From Dominic, the Poet. |
