Chef of the Future 2013

Gary Ashley, 2012 winnerWe are pleased to announce the Vegetarian Society's annual cookery contest, in which chefs compete for the prestigious title of Vegetarian Chef of the Future, is now open for entry.

You don't need to be vegetarian nor a professional chef to enter but you do need to show a passion for vegetarian food and ingredients, combined with the ability to demonstrate cookery skills to a high standard.

The live final, on Wednesday 8 May, will see four contestants producing a three course meal, plated for four people, within three hours. Written applications need to be in by 15 April. You’ll need to submit full details of your menu (including an ingredients list) and an explanation of why you think you should be our Chef of the Future 2013.

The winner of the award will receive:

  • a place on our professional training course worth £1,600

  • an embroidered chef jacket

  • a trophy and bottle of champagne
