National Vegetarian Week

Wake up to an exciting and tasty lifestyle

We’re all different. So if you want to go - and stay - vegetarian, it’s important to find the way that suits you best.

Wake up to going veggie in bite size chunks

Every meal helps. If you don’t feel you can go veggie all at once, feel good about how you are reducing the amount of meat and fish you eat.

Get the knowledge. Going veggie is exciting and adventurous, it's also a big step so balance your diet and stay healthy. Find veggie nutrition info at www.vegsoc.org

Be adventurous. Try out recipes from simple curries, pasta sauce and stir fries to spectacular gourmet dishes. Be inspired at www.vegsoc.org/recipes

Don’t rely on dairy. You won’t be healthy if you just swap the meat or fish in your usual diet for lots of cheese products. Try nuts, beans, lentils, soya products and meat substitutes.

Get the knowledge. Going vegetarian is exciting and adventurous but it's also a big step. The Vegetarian Society is an educational charity with lots of advice and help.

Don’t give up. If you find it difficult at first or slip up a bit, just remind yourself about all the great reasons to go veggie and give it another go.

Decide on a few clear steps. Many people give up red meat first, then white meat, and finally fish. It might help to set some targets along the way.
