Become a speaker

The Vegetarian Society speakers' service helps us to fulfil our role as an educational charity by taking unbiased information about healthy vegetarian lifestyles into the heart of the community. Speakers can also share their own experiences and insights, tips and favourite recipes in a way that adds a personal dimension to the plain facts and figures.

If you are a Vegetarian Society member with several years’ experience of being a vegetarian, with some time available and are confident about dealing with the public, you might find it very rewarding to join our list of speakers.

We offer plenty of support in terms of information sheets, leaflets, a regular newsletter, e-mail and telephone support service. We will pay a fixed amount for travelling expenses for all school talks arranged through us.

Organisations such as women's groups, church groups, youth clubs, and debating societies often request speakers and these may be evening talks, so we still welcome applications from people who are unable to fit in day time talks.

Read what some of our speakers have to say about their experiences:

"Since becoming a speaker, I have given three talks. I was amazed at how interested young people are in the subject. It's great to be able to show people how delicious vegetarian food is."

"I would recommend becoming a speaker; it gives a real sense of satisfaction knowing you are opening up people's opinions about vegetarianism. "
