The current UK population is 62.3 million*. Most recent statistics indicate that 2% of adults and children are vegetarian (not eating meat or fish)**, this amounts to over 1.2 million individuals. (*Office for National Statistics, ** National Diet and Nutrition Survey, 2012)
The meat-free and free-from food markets were valued at £949 million for 2012*, (*Mintel 'Meat-free and Free-from foods' 2011)
Recent figures for the amount of meat* consumed by individuals in the UK is 79.1kg per year (216.7g/day, 130.9g of red meat). (* not inclusive of fish)
