Caterer’s fish-conceptions

Although the majority of caterers understand that vegetarians don’t eat fish it appears that a minority still need to get over their fish-conceptions! The Vegetarian Society recently had complaints from parents concerned that some school caterers are offering fish as a vegetarian option.

Jamie Johnson, Youth Education Officer said, “I’ve spoken to dismayed parents whose children have been offered fish as a lunchtime vegetarian option - vegetarians don’t eat fish and never have. Any caterers wanting information and help about catering are very welcome to contact the Society for practical advice and support.”

The booklet is suitable for primary, secondary and further education establishments. It gives a good grounding in what a vegetarian is as well as including practical advice and recipes.
