Vegetarians - a very British tradition.

(British Food Fortnight 22 Sept – 7 Oct)

With British Food Fortnight on the way, don’t forget the veggies. Veggie food is truly British – The Vegetarian Society of the United Kingdom is the oldest vegetarian organisation in the world and is celebrating 160 years this year.

So to celebrate British Food Fortnight and the Society’s longevity, we present a range of dishes with a regional twist – Canal Floddies, Blind Scouse, Cornish Pasties, Ale and Mushroom Puff Pastry Pie with Champ, Dovedale and Beetroot Layered Yorkshire Pudding – to name but a few.

All recipes are available online at www.vegsoc.org and have been developed by the Cordon Vert cookery school, which has its twenty-fifth anniversary this year. If you are looking for recipes using seasonal ingredients then the Season to Taste recipe collection is also available, it brings together the best flavours and produce around throughout the year.

To keep up to date with the Cordon Vert Cookery School’s activities or to take a look at The Vegetarian Society’s huge collection of vegetarian recipes visit www.vegsoc.org
