| January 2007 DOUBLE HELPINGS FOR TOP VEGGIE BREAKFAST AWARD Vegetarian Society Awards - Best Vegetarian Breakfast 2007
The Vegetarian
Society is delighted to announce that this year there are double helpings
in the award to find the Best Vegetarian
Breakfast 2007. The joint winners of this prestigious award are Vegetarian
Lakeland Living B&B, Cockermouth, Cumbria and the Haie Barn Vegetarian
B&B, Dorstone, Herefordshire.
Breakfasts ranging from the classic (free-range) eggs, veggie sausages and toast, to home-made hash browns, fresh fruit smoothies and banana pancakes, made it into the top five. All the short-listed brekkies were checked by The Vegetarian Society for their ingredients and mode of preparation, to ensure only the highest standards were met. Liz O’Neill, spokesperson for The Vegetarian Society said: “We congratulate both winners for their award winning breakfasts. A good breakfast is well known to be an excellent way to start your day and these fantastic flavours would certainly get me up and about. The standards the joint winners and those short-listed have set send out a positive message to all hotels, cafes, restaurants and breakfast providers. There are over three million vegetarians in the UK and we are a powerful force… and one that loves a good brekkie like anybody else.”
The Vegetarian Society’s Awards are highly regarded in the food and drinks industry. They promote best practice among caterers, manufacturers and retailers, and highlight the importance of integrity in the vegetarian market place.
