| 2008 Veggies' guardian angel award launched Vote for the most veggie friendly TV chef
3 April 2008 A new award has been launched by The Vegetarian Society to coincide with National Vegetarian Week 19-25 May 2008. With so many cookery and food programmes currently on television, The Vegetarian Society is asking the public to vote for the TV chef who is the most veggie friendly. Su Taylor, spokesperson for The Vegetarian Society, said, “As a veggie you often sit down to watch a cookery programme only to find yourself shouting at the TV. It’s often because there’s very little vegetarian food being cooked or because fish is being described as vegetarian. Well, we want to know which TV chef is the most veggie friendly. Who currently stands up for us, who knows their tofu from their trout and who corrects others when they get it wrong?” Nominations for The Vegetarian Society Awards 2008 are now open at www.vegsoc.org. The Vegetarian Society’s Awards promote best practice among caterers, manufacturers and retailers, and highlight the importance of integrity in the vegetarian marketplace. The Awards also acknowledge those who promote vegetarianism through the media. National Vegetarian Week 19-25 May 2008 is sponsored by Cauldron Foods.
