Sweet success – Best Vegetarian Ready-made Dessert

Winner announced

Earlier this year the Vegetarian Society launched the search to find the Best Vegetarian Ready-made Dessert. After all most people enjoy a little sweetness now and again and it’s not just veggies who want their little pots, puddings, slices or spoons of loveliness to be free from gelatine, crushed beetle or animal fat. The winner of the Best Vegetarian Ready-made Dessert is Marks & Spencer Melty Middle Chocolate Dessert.

Other desserts shortlisted were Alpro Soya Dessert – Chocolate flavour, Gu Little Pots au Chocolat and Swedish Glace Ice cream – Vanilla flavour

The Vegetarian Society’s Awards promote best practice among caterers, manufacturers and retailers, and highlight the importance of integrity in the vegetarian market place. Categories for 2008 are: Best independent pub or restaurant for vegetarian food; Best vegetarian beauty product and Best veggie-friendly TV chef. Presentations to the winners are scheduled for November.
