Best UK Independent Pub for Vegetarian Food

Winner announced.

Back in April this year the Vegetarian Society launched the search to find the Best UK Independent Pub for Vegetarian Food. The charity wanted to find out if there was a venue that catered well for vegetarians. One that not only offered a great choice of vegetarian dishes but also gave good service, was helpful, welcoming and good value and the winner is The Red Lion, Great Bricett, Suffolk (www.theveggieredlion.co.uk)

Caroline Chisholm, Head of Communications at the Vegetarian Society, said, “Our mystery diners couldn’t praise the Red Lion enough. The pub is exclusively vegetarian, the range and choice of food was excellent, the staff were helpful and the atmosphere warm - congratulations to the staff and owners at the Red Lion.”

Others pubs shortlisted were The George, Brighton and 78, Glasgow.

The nominations for the awards were voted for through the Charity’s website and members’ magazine. Mystery diners were then sent to the venues shortlisted. Presentations to the winners will be in November.
