National Vegetarian Week 23rd - 29th May 2005 13th National Vegetarian Week set to present The 13th National Vegetarian Week takes place from 23rd-29th May 2005, and promises to be a fabulous opportunity for building relationships with both vegetarian and ‘meat-reducing’ customers. Interest in ethical products and meat alternatives has never been bigger, so tapping into the vegetarian market could prove extremely lucrative for your business. According to market research from Key Note (September 2004), the vegetarian sector has seen continuous growth over the past few years. Key Note expect this trend to continue, and predict an increase in the market value to £779m by 2008/9. National Vegetarian Week 2004 was a huge success. Media coverage beat all previous records with circulation figures reaching just under 100 million! Many businesses reported excellent sales on products associated with the week. Sainsbury’s organic Portabella mushrooms featured National Vegetarian Week stickers on packaging leading to a 15% increase in sales that week and Marks & Spencer successfully launched 4 new vegetarian ready-meals. Tony Jerome, Press Manager for CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) commented: Everyone can get involved in National Vegetarian Week 2005. List your
activities free on The Vegetarian Society website and order a free National
Vegetarian Week business pack containing leaflets, posters and lots of
