'Cruachan', at Minard, Loch Fyne, is a new vegetarian and vegan bed and breakfast establishment and the latest member of The Vegetarian Society Food and Drink Guild. Located  on the west coast of Scotland 'Cruachan' offers special themed breaks such as cookery courses, herb weekends and 'rest and relax' retreats. Giving visitors the opportunity not only to learn about good food ideas but also to have a lovely break in this popular area with its many places to visit and explore. Appointments with local complementary health therapists can also be arranged for guests should you have an interest in aromatherapy, Reiki, Indian Head massage and other treatments. The hosts for these special breaks are  Ian and Linda Ward who have many years' experience and a passion for excellence in both food and customer experience. ' We are really pleased with the feedback from our guests' says Ian 'particularly when you notice that the majority of them have not been vegetarian or vegan but simply have an interest in good healthy food. '

Breakfasts and evening meals at 'Cruachan' offer a wide choice both for the vegetarian and vegan and special diets are easily accommodated with advance notice and much of the food is organic.

Membership of The Vegetarian Society Food and Drink Guild is only available to caterers that demonstrate a clear understanding of the requirements of a vegetarian lifestyle and have had their menus, recipes, ingredients and procedures approved by The Society.

Members of the Food and Drink Guild Scheme are able to use the Society's approved logo (the seedling symbol)


The Vegetarian Society's trademark seedling symbol was established in 1969. Since then it has become the most widely recognised and trusted stamp of vegetarian approval anywhere in the world. The strength of the symbol is based on products meeting firm criteria. No other symbol gives consumers such reassurance and inspires the trust that comes from The Vegetarian Society  seedling approved symbol.

The Vegetarian Society, a registered educational charity,  is the oldest vegetarian organisation in the world.  It offers an independent voice able to promote and provide information on vegetarianism.
