National Vegetarian Week May 19-25

National Vegetarian Week set to get off to a stimulating start when the results of a saucy new survey are revealed.

Everyone loves a bit of satisfaction so in keeping with this year's National Vegetarian Week theme we've been finding out what 'does it' for vegetarians. The results of a saucy new survey (find it at www.vegsoc.org) will be exposed at the Launch of National Vegetarian Week on Monday 19th May. We hope that this tempting prospect arouses your curiosity…the questions we've been asking have certainly got Vegetarian Society members feeling fruity!

Well-known comedian and Vegetarian Society member, Dave Spikey, (Phoenix Nights) contacted us after he and his wife were stirred to discuss their intimate desires by the possibilities the survey raised… The Vegetarian Society would like to share Dave's message with you:

"Although my wife was much tempted by a "Mouthful of Mexican to excite her tastebuds" (6a in the recent "Tell us how you like it quiz"), I would suggest that she look nearer home for a similar experience. For there is an often overlooked vegetable that has a part to play in the passionate world of the boudoir. Forget ginseng, forget champagne and forget Viagra - in any case you can't get it over the counter, well I suppose there's a chance if you take two or three - But no, instead turn to Celery. It is a little known fact that a crispy, crunchy stick of celery is a potent bedroom performance enhancer. I believe the medical term is "African Disiac". Over the years I have relied on celery to perk me up on many occasions for it has the added benefit that if it should fail to fully enhance your potential you can always use it as a splint.
Eat vegetables, it's the civilised thing to do."

Find out whether veggies get more pleasure from a carrot or a green bean… do they get satisfaction from a big ripe banana or would they rather wrap their lips around a lovely long vegetarian sausage…? All this will be revealed and more on Monday the 19th May at the National Vegetarian Week launch. Come down to the Safeway St Katherine Docks, London store between 12 and 2 and satisfy your curiosity.
