Vegetarian Society celebrates successes on its own doorstep

The Vegetarian Society is proud to announce that it is joining forces with the Manchester Food and Drink Festival to sponsor the festival’s award Best Provision for Vegetarians. Festival Director, Phil Jones says:

'It is with great pleasure that we welcome The Vegetarian Society on board this year's Festival. For the Best Provision for Vegetarians Award to be sponsored by such an esteemed organisation adds great kudos to this already well-respected award'

The award celebrates the high standard of vegetarian food provision and catering in Manchester, a standard which is particularly welcomed by The Vegetarian Society as this national educational charity promoting awareness of vegetarianism is based in Altrincham, Greater Manchester.

Vegetarian Society Chief Executive, Tina Fox says:
"Selected on merit, all of the businesses nominated for the Best Vegetarian Provision Award are exclusively vegetarian, showing just how far Greater Manchester has come in taking the needs of vegetarian customers seriously. The Vegetarian Society is privileged to be based in such a cosmopolitan and forward thinking place!”

Commenting on the extraordinary development of vegetarian businesses in Greater Manchester in recent years, Tina adds, “It is an exciting time for vegetarian businesses, this year alone we have seen two of Manchester’s best loved vegetarian outlets - Unicorn and The Eighth Day - upgrade their premises, and the quality of their offering. Meanwhile new veggie ventures seem to be sprouting all over the place!”

All nominations for the Manchester Food and Drink Festival’s Best Provision for Vegetarians Award have been checked to meet The Vegetarian Society’s standard that includes ensuring that any eggs used are guaranteed free-range.

Nominations are:

The Bean Counter, Earth Café, The Eighth Day, The Greenhouse, Greens, Unicorn Grocery.
