Vegetarian Society Award Conjures up
Halloween Vision of a Perfect World
The Vegetarian Society
Award ceremony is always a spellbinding mixture of anticipation and
celebration.
Businesses in the food and catering
industries cross their fingers in the hope that they will receive one
of the prestigious awards. This year the ceremony takes place on the
eve of Halloween at London’s Magic Circle. The perfect place and
the right time for the Society to work its magic and banish those ingredients
that haunt vegetarians who want to enjoy crisps, sweets and yoghurt,
safe in the knowledge that they don’t contain any slaughterhouse
by-products.
With the tongue
in cheek ‘(Im)Perfect World Award’, The
Vegetarian Society will be shaking a broom at some of the companies whose
products aren’t quite ‘suitable’ for vegetarians -
but that so easily could be. The winner will be the product that vegetarians
most want to eat, but can’t! The Society hopes the prize will prompt
the nominees in this category to reflect on their ingredients and make
its vegetarian wish list come true…
The Nominees who might be spooked into action are:
Muller Yoghurts
Bassett’s Jelly Babies
Haribo Sweets
Marshmallows
Walkers Cheese & Onion Crisps
