It’s official:
Brighton named ‘Best UK Destination for Vegetarians’

Brighton fought off stiff competition from Edinburgh, Manchester and Glastonbury last night to scoop The Vegetarian Society Award for ‘Best UK Destination for Vegetarians’.

Nominated by members of the public, Brighton won because it offers a fantastic selection of vegetarian cafés and restaurants, vegetarian friendly accommodation and even vegetarian shoe shops! The city also scored points for providing veggie visitors with excellent information about suitable facilities.

The well known Brighton restaurant, and Vegetarian Society Restaurant of the year in 2001, Terre á Terre, was a runner up in the Gourmet Vegetarian Restaurant category.

Susie Smith from The Vegetarian Society Awards judging panel commented: “Brighton came out on top because it offers vegetarians so much choice. Whatever your budget and whatever your taste, Brighton not only caters for it, it makes the information easy to find.”

The prestigious award was presented to Adam Bates, Brighton’s Head of Tourism, and Roger Marlow, the president of the region’s hoteliers association, at a glamorous ceremony at London’s Magic Circle last night.
