August 2004National Pregnancy Week 6th – 12th September 2004Information and reassurance for veggie ‘Vegetarian pregnancy, vegetarian babies’ is an invaluable resource for anyone who wants to ensure optimum nutrition prior to conception and throughout pregnancy. It is also provides nutritional information and practical tips for moving your child onto suitable food at the appropriate stages of development. Chris Olivant from The Vegetarian Society said: "We produced the free guide in response to the enormous number of enquiries we receive from pregnant vegetarians. We became aware of a gap in the information provided by health workers, and pressure from well meaning relatives who suggest that they "need" to eat meat to be healthy. In fact, well planned vegetarian and vegan diets are perfectly suitable for pregnant women and babies and ‘Vegetarian pregnancy, vegetarian babies’ aims to give people the information and confidence to be pregnant and veggie."
