Quorn Mince named Best Meat Substitute at
The Vegetarian Society Awards
The Vegetarian Society has named Quorn Mince the Best Meat or Fish Substitute
at its annual awards ceremony, which took place in London last night.
Contenders for the
title of ‘Best Meat or Fish Substitute’ were
nominated by members of the public. The shortlisted products were:
Cauldron Foods Lincolnshire-style Veggie Sausages
Holland & Barret Porkless Pie
Linda McCartney Sausages
Quorn Mince
Redwood Foods Making Waves Fish-style Fingers
Realeat Vegemince
Tina Fox, Chief Executive of The Vegetarian Society said:
“
There is always huge consumer and industry interest in this award because
it’s a growing market area, driven by innovation and new ideas.
These are products that appeal to what have become known as ‘meat-reducers’ as
well as vegetarians. It is a real marvel that people can now enjoy meat-like
tastes and textures without taking the life of animals. The judges (who
weren’t all vegetarian) found that Quorn mince was a delicious
and satisfying alterative that can be used in exactly the same way as
mince made from meat.”
The award was presented
to Emma Fox from Marlow Foods who make Quorn, during a glamorous ceremony
at London’s Magic Circle last night.
