September 2004Have a veggie merry ChristmasIf you’re a veggie like Stella McCartney and Big Brother’s Michelle Bass, but your family doesn’t share your sympathies, chances are they might see your choice as a bit of a pain when it comes to cooking Christmas dinner. This year take the heat out of the kitchen by making your own veggie main course in advance, then freeze it so all you have to do on the day is pop it in the oven! You can download loads of free Christmassy recipes from www.vegsoc.org, but if culinary skills are not your strong point, check out your local health food store and treat yourself to a ready-made veggie roast. For those of you whose vegetarian lifestyle creates tension with parents, or if your family is worried that you are not meeting your nutritional requirements, phone The Vegetarian Society on 0161 925 2000 for a FREE copy of their Parent & Teen Guide to a healthy vegetarian diet.
• Outside office hours The Vegetarian Society Press Office can be contacted on 07973 108 165.
