Vegetarian
Society urges the nation to start ‘New Traditions’ this
Christmas
In response to food industry reports that mainstream consumers are actively
reducing their intake of animal ingredients in favour of vegetarian, low-cholesterol
and dairy-free diets, The Vegetarian Society has put together a free recipe
booklet to help cater for all dietary needs this Christmas.
The Society worked with Swedish Soft, the non-dairy alternative to soft
cheese, to create a festively flavoured menu that will appeal to traditional
palates and meet the needs of veggies and vegans, as well as the increasing
number of people who prefer to avoid dairy products.
Christine Tilbury who devised the new recipes said:
“ With so many different dietary preferences to contend with these days,
this booklet provides invaluable advice that will really take the confusion
out of Christmas catering. As meat-free cooking becomes more widely
accepted, I really hope these recipes will inspire some new traditions.”
The free booklet ‘New Traditions – recipes for a meat-free
Christmas’ is available from The Vegetarian Society on 0161 925
2000.
Recipes include:
Lime & Coriander Swedish Stars
