New Traditions:
Classic Christmas flavours
for contemporary attitudes.

- Sponsored by Swedish Soft -

The Vegetarian Society makes a meat-free Christmas delicious and easy, with their brand new, free, festive recipe booklet.

As up to half the population reduce their intake of animal ingredients, saturated fats and cholesterol, successfully catering for everyone at Christmas can seem confusing. Thankfully The Vegetarian Society has developed a festively flavoured contemporary menu that everyone can enjoy. The new recipes feature in the free booklet ‘New Traditions – recipes for a meat-free Christmas’.

The Society suggests starting your meal with an elegant entrée of Lime & Coriander Swedish Stars. These stunning puff pastry stars, deep filled with a blend of creamy Swedish Soft and fresh lime and coriander pea pesto, are surprisingly dairy-free.

Delight your guests with the truly traditional flavours of a stylish main course that proves that meat-free doesn’t mean flavour-free. The contrasting textures of Smoked Bean Curd Medallions and Shiitake & Walnut Stuffing, accompanied by Cider Glazed Root Vegetables, Sesame Shredded Brussels Sprouts, Black Pepper & Rosemary Hassle Back Potatoes and the very special ‘Sizzling Santas in Blankets’, are guaranteed to satisfy every palate.

For pudding we predict that Fig & Walnut Mince Pies with Smooth Vanilla Swedish Glace will impress even those who don’t usually like mince pies, and the ‘piece de resistance’, Soft Caramel & Black Cherry Bombe with Hot Chocolate Sauce, is a stunning, dairy-free, iced dessert, sure to raise gasps of pleasure from everyone – especially when they learn that a second helping isn’t out of the question as Soft Caramel Swedish Glace contains only 5% fat!

“Creating a menu that can work for so many different dietary requirements has been a really interesting challenge. These recipes have been tried and tasted by vegetarians, vegans, omnivores, and dairy-intolerant people, to great success! Helping people provide a Christmas meal that they can share with family and friends - whatever their needs - is something very close to my heart, particularly as I also celebrate my birthday on Christmas day! Developing recipes that help achieve this has certainly given me a festive glow!”
Christine Tilbury, Head of the Cordon Vert Culinary Institution at The Vegetarian Society.

The free recipe booklet ‘New Traditions – recipes for a meat-free Christmas’ is available from The Vegetarian Society on 0161 925 2000.
