Is South West Best for Veggies?

No less than 4 West Country establishments have been shortlisted for honours at the 2005 Vegetarian Society Awards!

Will the title of ‘Best vegetarian bistro or café’ go to Plymouth Arts Centre café with its relaxed, bohemian vibe or Exeter’s well-loved Plant Café-Deli? Perhaps The Bean Inn at Carbis Bay, Cornwall, or previous award winners, Café Maitreya in Bristol, will find favour with The Vegetarian Society’s elusive, mystery diners?

With only two contenders hailing from other parts of the country (Cambridge’s Rainbow Café and The Fieldgate Centre Café, Doncaster), the public’s nominations certainly prove that South West is best for hungry vegetarians!

Susie Smith, a vegetarian from Plymouth commented:
“ That so many cafés in this part of the country have been short-listed for a national award hasn’t surprised me in the least – the South West, with it’s diverse and creative population has always been a haven for vegetarians, and as years go by, the standard of food available just seems to get better and better!”
