Veggies and Vegans say Eat Turkey this Xmas!

New free Xmas recipe booklet

September 21, 2001

Veggie and vegan organisations are encouraging the nation to try a taste of Turkey this Xmas. The Vegetarian Society and The Vegan Society, both national registered educational charities, have created a mouth watering meze, inspired by the rich flavours of Turkish cuisine and great for sharing with friends and family. To get your free Turkish Delight festive fayre booklet, which includes all you need to enjoy a meat free Xmas call 0161 925 2000 or 0845 458 8244 - and make your Xmas sparkle with kindness.

Delight your guests with our new flavour-packed turkey-free recipes, dip into Turkish White Beans, Festive Spinach and Potato Stuffed Borek, Iman Biyaldi, Bulgar Dolmades or try the sweet Christmas Apricots. Make the whole collection or just a few dishes, whatever takes your fancy, they're great for any get-together.

The Turkish Delight dishes are all created by Chico Francesco, a tutor at the Cordon Vert Cookery School, the only cookery school approved by The Vegetarian Society. Chico teaches a range of short courses - such as the Far Eastern Weekend, the Italian Day, East meets West and the popular Mediterranean Weekend - all specialising in food from far away places.

The collection is brought to you by The Vegetarian Society and The Vegan Society, so you can be sure that each recipe is completely meat free and dairy free.

If you would like further great recipe ideas or a more traditional meat free Xmas menu then visit www.vegsoc.org for past delicious recipe collections.

National Vegetarian Week 2002 will run from the 8th ~ 14th July. As part of the week's activities, The Vegetarian Society will be hosting the 35th World Vegetarian Congress, Food for all our Futures, in Edinburgh.

This year World Vegan Day will be on Thursday 1 November.
