Vegetarian
Food Fits The Bill
The nation's best-known bobbies take up the veggie challenge
To
highlight National Vegetarian Week and celebrate the cuisine of choice
for the ever increasing number of people who are dropping meat from their
diet, The Bill's longest serving officer, P.C.Carver, other wise known
as actor Mark Wingett, has given meat a suspended sentence and gone veggie
for the week.
Carver
is joined on his mission by fellow Sun Hill bobbies P.C. Cameron Tait
(former Neighbour's heartthrob, Australian actor Daniel MacPherson) and
P.C. Kerry Young (actress Beth Cordingly). Keeping the crack squad on
the straight and narrow is veteran vegetarian, Scott Maslen, who plays
D.S. Phil Hunter. Hunky Scott is passionate about vegetarianism and passionate
about food so was thrilled at the opportunity to promote awareness of
vegetarianism. Unfortunately over the last 15 years he has on occasion
suffered at the hands of TV and film caterers who simply didn't understand
his dietary needs!
During
this week the venturing vegetarians won't encounter any such problems
as all their meals are being lovingly created by the incredible vegetarian
chefs at Soho's Plant restaurant. Mark Wingett has been so impressed and
inspired by the food so far that he's planning to take the veggie challenge
beyond the week and learn how to re-create some of the dishes himself.
It looks like Plant has proved what The Vegetarian Society has always
known - that veggie food can provide total satisfaction for even the most
habitual meat eaters! If all goes well there could be no more carving
for P.C. Carver - Plant has sown the seed and with a little nurturing
and support from the Vegetarian Society his new vegetarian lifestyle may
take root!
