To celebrate National Vegetarian Week 2004, The Vegetarian Society is launching a new edition of ‘Food for Thought’ – the essential guide to going (and staying) vegetarian. Recommended reading for anyone considering vegetarianism, this free booklet provides all the information and advice to get your new lifestyle off to a healthy and tasty start.

Featuring personal contributions from celebrity vegetarians including Victoria Wood, Bryan Adams and Tony Banks MP, Food for Thought is packed full of nutritional information and store-cupboard tips, as well as advice about hidden ingredients and how to avoid the stumbling blocks. There’s also a handy list of useful resources for vegetarians and sources of information about issues relating to vegetarianism, such as animal welfare.

A balanced vegetarian diet is nutritionally sound and fulfills the government’s recommended ‘balance of good health’ guidelines. Food for Thought is a useful booklet for the families of vegetarians who want to ensure that they know exactly what a vegetarian is. It also provides reassurance about the ease with which a vegetarian diet can fulfill all nutritional requirements.

To get you started in the kitchen there’s some simple and tasty vegetarian recipes that the whole family will enjoy. Hundreds more recipes – from the very basic to the adventurous – can be found on The Vegetarian Society website www.vegsoc.org
