Going vegetarian is...
Good for animals: In the UK over 2.5 million land animals are slaughtered daily and 600,000 tonnes of fish are killed each year.
Good for the environment: It takes thousands more litres of water to produce a kilo of beef than to grow the same quantity of grains, vegetables or pulses.
Good for your health: Research shows that vegetarians are less likely to suffer from obesity, coronary heart disease, high blood pressure and some other diseases.
Every meal helps. If you don't feel you can go veggie all at once, start by reducing the amount of meat and fish that you eat.
Don't give up. If you find it difficult at first or slip up, don't be too hard on yourself, just try again.
