The Vegetarian Society is a national charity based in Altrincham, Greater Manchester. Members of our small professional staff team report to the charity’s Council of Trustees. We enjoy a friendly working environment, flexible hours and great job satisfaction; supporting and representing vegetarians across the UK as well as promoting educational messages about vegetarian issues.

The Vegetarian Society values diversity and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.  Applications can be made by post or email. Please contact us if you require a different format. We will not accept applications from agencies.

Fundraising Officer posted 02 April 2014

Full time: 35 hrs
Salary: £23,945

We are looking for a full time Fundraising Officer to be based at our office at Parkdale, a converted mansion house surrounded by private gardens, five minutes from the M56 and within close proximity to Altrincham.

Reporting to the Fundraising and Membership Manager, the person in this role will influence, inspire and support people to embrace and maintain a vegetarian lifestyle by engaging with individuals and funders to develop and deliver income to support our work.

Main duties are to increase fundraising income by developing and implementing fundraising programs, to research and develop potential new fundraising avenues and products and to lead on, create and deliver fundraising activities.

We are looking for a full time Supporter Care Officer to be based at our office at Parkdale, a converted mansion house surrounded by private gardens, five minutes from the M56 and within close proximity to Altrincham.

Reporting to the Fundraising and Membership Manager, the person in this role will influence, inspire and support people to embrace and maintain a vegetarian lifestyle by increasing member and donor recruitment and engagement through marketing activities such as advertising, direct mail, telemarketing, and digital communications.

Main duties are to manage and develop the Society’s relationship with supporters to increase supporter engagement and retention.

We’re seeking a volunteer who wants to put their sociable personality to good use. Do you like talking to people?  Are you good at writing letters?  Then we want you to join our team to get in touch with supporters and to do a very important thing – thank them!

To be a successful thanking volunteer at the Vegetarian Society, you need the following skills or characteristics:

*   Enjoy talking with people
*   Have a good command of the English spoken language
*   Have a commitment to the Vegetarian Society’s aims and some personal experience and understanding of the issues of being vegetarian or vegan
*   Have good written communication skills, including competency in English spelling and grammar
*   Have an understanding of customer service
*   Be able to travel to our office in Altrincham to do this activity
*   And we would love to find someone who has one day a week to give us for this role

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to get into charity fundraising or supporter services, or anyone who would be happy to put their love of a good natter to good use in support of a great cause. You will be volunteering with our Fundraising & Membership Team. The role is voluntary but we will reimburse your travel and lunch expenses.
