Working for the Vegetarian Society

The Vegetarian Society is a national charity based in Altrincham, Greater Manchester. Members of our small professional staff team report to the charity’s Council of Trustees. To find out more about the Vegetarian Society and its mission, values, activities and strategic aims, please refer to the Extracts from the Business Plan 2014 document and our Five-Year Strategy.

We enjoy a friendly working environment, flexible hours and great job satisfaction; supporting and representing vegetarians across the UK as well as promoting educational messages about vegetarian issues.

Local Group Research & Consultation Project Officer posted 20 May 2016

Fixed Term Contract:  35 hrs per week for 4 months
Salary: The scale is SCP 29 £25,440 per year (pro rata)

This post is open to job shares, secondments and freelance workers.

The Local Group Research & Consultation Project Officer will work closely with the CEO of the Vegetarian Society Lynne Elliot and be managed by and report to the Head of Campaigns and Engagement Lance Bell.

The project: The local group research & consultation project is to explore whether the Vegetarian Society should expand its network of local groups, how they should be supported and how local groups can support the work of the Vegetarian Society, through sharing the agreed messages and potential fundraising.
The project worker will carry out both desk based research, questionnaires and face to face consultation with current groups, but also look at the opportunities to expand the network including the creation of new communities of interest: e.g. Vegetarian Mothers

You will explore the relationships other national charities have with their local support networks and advise on the best approach to be taken by the Vegetarian Society.
