Waiting to welcome you - join a local group
The Vegetarian Society has Local Groups in many different parts of the country and they all welcome new members.
If you are new to vegetarianism, or just thinking about changing your diet, your Local Group can give you a lot of encouragement and moral support. They also have first-hand knowledge about where to eat out or shop for vegetarian products in your area.
The groups support our campaigns and projects, so if you are interested in promoting vegetarianism, you can make contact with like-minded people to share ideas and give vegetarians a louder voice.
Most groups also organise social events throughout the year; they particularly seem to enjoy good food and good company.

Not in a position to join a local group, though would like to do something positive to promote vegetarianism?
As an individual, you can pursue whichever aspects of our campaigning that you find interesting, do as much or as little as you like. We believe that when it comes to creating a culture where the ideals of vegetarianism and compassion are considered normal.

Local Network Update
Please note that we are currently reviewing our services to, and relationship with our local groups. Therefore we are not currently recruiting groups to our Local Network until the new year. If you are interested joining a local group, you can check if there is a group in your local area here. However, if you do contact us, we can keep you updated on our progress as we develop the new service.
To this end we are running a survey with our existing local groups to discuss how we can work together to shape the network, and how we can effectively support each other. Local groups are a vital element of the vegetarian movement and the society. Without their continued support we couldn't make the impact and changes that we all want to see in the world, be that for the animals, people or the planet.
If not already, why not become a member of the Vegetarian Society?
