Our website has won an award!
Best Vegetarian Online Resource
11 June 2015
The Vegetarian Society’s website www.vegsoc.org was nominated in The Veggie Awards 2015 in the ‘Best Vegetarian Online Resource’ category and has won!
The awards are run by Veggie magazine (formerly Cook Vegetarian) and the winners for each category were decided by votes from their readers and visitors to their website.
Jenny O’Neil from Veggie Magazine said: “The results are a real reflection of what our readers and online visitors think are the best of the best within the vegetarian marketplace, including many products, people, restaurants and resources.”
Lynne Elliot, Chief Executive of the Vegetarian Society, said: “Winning an award like this is a real honour. We put a lot of work into ensuring we provide the best information we can to vegetarians and to those interested in vegetarianism, so it’s fantastic that our efforts have been formally recognised in this way.”
The Vegetarian Society was also asked to judge the Lifetime Achievement Award, which went to Linda McCartney.
Lynne said: “Linda McCartney made vegetarianism practical for everyone with her simple home-cooking recipe books and ground-breaking products. She was a pioneer in the vegetarian food industry: where she led, others have followed. Linda’s legacy of compassion, enthusiasm and innovation is still reaching new generations through campaigns such as Meat Free Monday – this is why she is our lifetime achievement winner.”
Our charity also sponsored the ‘Best Online Retailer’ category, which was won by Ocado.
